Rakosmente Open 2015 Rd2

Rank Round 2

There is 4-way tie for first so far with Bakk Zoltan and three others.

I won my game fairly quickly today but had to take a half-point bye as the first round clashed with the final day of the Sakksarok Open.

Here is the game with light notes

Kurko Bence-Yip,M

Black built up a strong attacking position on the kingside after 27..Rag8(Diagram)

After 27..Rag8

White tried to prevent the ..g4 break with 28.g4? and lost quickly

Sakksarok Open October 2015 Rd6

Final Ranking Rd6

IM Szabolcsi Janos and Marta Dominik both playing for MTK, shared first with 5/6.

I finished with 2/6 after winning only rd5 on the last day.

My games with light notes.

In Rd 5, I was rather lucky to say the least.

Iszo-Yip

I built a nice position early in the game but overlooked something when going for an attack. After many mistakes, my position turned out to be rather horrible.

After 46..Re7

White missed the killing 47.Nc8!! and played 47.Nd7+ and later lost in complex play.

BTCh 6-board 2015 Rd2

MTK at Sirayi

MTK fields a team in the Monday evening Team Ch in both the 6 and 8 board formats. The play is not rated so is an excellent way to test new ideas out.

I contributed a win on the White side of a 4.e3 Nimzo-Indian.

The lineup this evening was

  1. Lyell,M
  2. Teglas,B
  3. Varga,V
  4. Bolyai,I
  5. Yip,M(CAN)
  6. Balla,A

Teglas got a quick professional draw. Varga,Z escaped with a lucky draw when his opponent missed an easy mate. Bolyai won with a Dutch Defence.

Balla easily converted a huge positional advantage. Lyell was still playing when I left.

Board 5 Yip-Csomor

My opponent was generous and gave away a key kingside pawn early and the end came quickly.

Results

I contributed a rather sad loss defending a Nimzo-Indian.

Wanger,Tamas-Yip,M(board 6)(CB13 now allows quite easy publishing of games)

Black has a pawn for the exchange and just played 33..Kh7(diagram)

After 33..Kh7

White found the strong 34.g4! and Black was suffering and lost quickly.

The post game analysis was quite entertaining and educational as I tried to explain my mistakes away with ‘blah blah…my nice blockade on e5….and then a blunder…’

But a few moments at home with an engine showed even more mistakes.

Hopefully these pics will turn out well(clearly I should have invested in a smartphone much earlier in my life).
