Roeper Team at Michigan Scholastic Team Ch 2013

On Feb. 2, the Roeper chess team won multiple awards at the Michigan Scholastic Team Championship, most notably the K-3 team, which took home first place and was named state champions.

In addition, the K-5 team finished second in the state while the K-5 reserve teams received trophies for finishing in fifth and seventh place.


The Roeper chess team is made up of 26 players from the Roeper Lower School, located on Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills, and is coached by Diallo Smith.

This isn’t the first big win for the Roeper chess team. In November, the K-3 team took home first place at the 2012 Michigan Scholastic Club Championship, which featured students competing as a team and individually.
