14.Ne2!? transfers the knight to the kingside while offering the e-pawn as a gambit. This is one of the latest attempts for white break the Semi-Slav. Analysis shows that it is dangerous to accept the pawn so black is left with the question of how to properly uphold the Semi-Slav.
