Karpos Open 2013 Rd2, Peczely S(HUN)-TWIC 958

TWIC 958
Hungarian junior Peczely,S faced the solid Caro-Kann in rd2 and was slowly outplayed with an uncommon line in the 4..Bf5 variation. Black played the under the radar 12…a5!?(diagram) and played to massage down the queenside.

White fought back to an equal position only to blunder but the real value of the game is unearthing the 12…a5!? continuation.

12…a5

Here is the feature game.

Karpos Open 2013 Rd8,GM Berkes F(HUN)-TWIC 958

GM Berkes shows another useful formation to fight against the London System. Black quickly launches the kingside pawns forward and storms the kingside. The key was …Nh6, to free the f-pawn for a quick advance.
