I contributed a win but MTK suffered defeat.

I went for the big attack on the White side of a Rubinstein Nimzo-Indian.

Now I was poised to break open the position with the e5-e6 break but thought the rook should be attacking something as the d6 pawn was already protected.

The immediate 40.e6 decides right away but I went for the slower 40.Bc4 intending Rf1-f4 or Rf6 increasing the pressure, leaving the decision to play the e6 break to later.

I contributed a lucky draw for MTK IV today.

The opening went horribly for me but by some trickery and luck I escaped from a dead lost game to a winning endgame….but still could not convert and had to concede a tough draw.

The Hungarian National Teams held a press conference at the Hungarian Chess Federation before the teams departed.

Each team member spoke briefly and answered questions from the gallery.

There was a little girl in the ceremony who received a cake but I was not sure what for. GM Judit Polgar was also part of the team delegation.

The players seemed in good spirits and the mood was very positive.

A nice lunch was provided.

The away game required a car pool trip to a small town 130km away.

I rode with in the first class car of Mrs Czumbel-Thank you!

This was my best game. I got a favourable structure early in the opening and built a nice central position up.

I won my game fairly quickly today but had to take a half-point bye as the first round clashed with the final day of the Sakksarok Open.

IM Szabolcsi Janos and Marta Dominik both playing for MTK, shared first with 5/6.

I finished with 2/6 after winning only rd5 on the last day.

In Rd 5, I was rather lucky to say the least.

I built a nice position early in the game but overlooked something when going for an attack. After many mistakes, my position turned out to be rather horrible.
