TP Chess Puzzle Book 2016
I started to work my way through TP Chess Puzzle Book 2016 a few days ago. One of the names in Ch5 seemed very familiar and turned out to be one of my teammates.
Ch5 Winning the Isolani
Example 21: Jovanovic-Terbe,Julianna
White to Play
The Ne4 is attacked and the kingside seems quite solid.
What should White do with the knight?
White to Play
PS: Julie Terbe is my MTK teammate.

5.Bf4 Queen’s Gambit Declined(D37)
5th Sinquefield Cup 2017

The solid Queen’s Gambit turned out to be not so solid.
Black has too many weaknesses.
After 21..g6
Game 2: Morozevich-Studer
QGA 3.e4 Nf6(D20)

I was taking a little break and found this…
Dimash Kudaibergenov
Thinkers Publishing-New Books 2017
411 pages.
Twelve chapters with a mix of classics and modern games. Lots of text explanations.
No Indexes. Seriously you can’f find anything!

p.244 has an incorrect starting diagram
Nakamura-Carlsen, Moscow 2011
The bishop is on e3.(not f4 in the book)
Start position
This is the first example in the book which gets repeated in many books so you get no real idea of what is in the book. This is too bad.
After 20.a4(Diagram)
I found an improvement for Black(with computer assistance) in this classic game.
After 20.a4
The TP Puzzle Book 2016
13 Chapters, 312 pages.
I solved up to chapter 4 so far. The level is quite challenging for me. The solutions have good text explanations.

Game 1: Meier-Heimann
4.Bf4 Bg7 5.e3 0-0(D84)
German Masters 2017
After 24..a4(Diagram)
Black made an odd decision earlier in the game to give up the bishop pair but remain with an awful structure to defend. Now the c-file pin is asking for troube.
How should White continue?

TWIC 1187-Aug 8,2017

It was a bad week for the in the games featured. I was looking for a shortcut to looking at the 5-volume set of Kotronias on the King’s Indian. The Benoni seemed like a decent idea but the last book is now quite dated and there are many memory heavy variations.
